Kevin Dana – Founder and Coach

My name is Kevin Dana, and I am a happily married, proud father of three. My wife, Chelsea, and I both grew up in the Chugiak-Eagle River area, where we were introduced to various sports and club programs. While Chelsea played volleyball throughout high school, I dedicated my time to baseball, playing for Knik Little League and Chugiak High School before earning a scholarship to play at the collegiate level.

I spent two years as the head coach for Chugiak High School’s JV baseball program and have been coaching T-Ball and Coach Pitch with Knik for the past several years. Over time, I’ve noticed a major challenge in youth sports—lack of repetitions. Too often, young athletes don’t get enough time on the field during a short six-week season, limiting their growth and development.

I owe so much to the coaches who guided me along the way. Their lessons and mentorship have stayed with me throughout my life. I can still remember every coach I had—some great, some not-so-great—many of whom were volunteer parents stepping up to fill a need. But among them, there were a few who truly made an impact, not just in my baseball career but in shaping me as a person.

As I moved into high school, I was fortunate to learn from coaches who remain active in our community today. Their passion, energy, and love for the game transformed the level of competition in the Chugiak-Eagle River area and provided opportunities that hadn’t existed before. I will always be grateful to those coaches who pushed me to be my best, not just on the field but in life.

That same passion and dedication are what I hope to bring to young athletes through Rampage Baseball. My goal is to create an environment where kids can develop their skills, gain confidence, and build a lifelong love for the game—one repetition at a time.

Austin McConnell - Coach

I am Austin McConnell; originally from Chimacum, Washington, but have been living in Eagle River with my family the past 6+ years. My wife, Bree, and I met while both serving as active duty in the Air Force. We are parents of 3 wild and adventurous kids, which has made Alaska a place we’d like to lay roots for a while. I am currently serving as active AGR, and my wife is a PICU RN at Providence. We both grew up playing baseball.

For me, growing up in Washington, I was introduced to baseball early on with little league and select baseball clubs (playing year around) until I ultimately decided to join the Air Force. Throughout most of my younger years in baseball, my dad was our coach. This has stuck with me, and I’ve been honored to coach my kids as they begin their baseball journeys.

I am excited to start this new Rampage Baseball endeavor, as it will act as an extension to our kids season and help give them the same opportunity I had.
